Do you know someone who struggles with chronic pain? Chronic pain can be frustrating to deal with because sometimes the doctors don’t always have the answers right away. Please don’t get frustrated with your doctors, most of them are truly interested in helping relieve the pain. However, whether your doctor isn’t for certain what the problem is or your insurance requires certain steps for doctors to take in order to prevent unnecessary expensive procedures or surgeries unless they are needed right away. As a patient dealing with pain, this process can leave you feeling painstakingly miserable. Here are some of my favorite gift ideas for those who suffer from chronic pain.

10 Last Minute Gift Ideas for People who Suffer from Chronic Pain

Tens Unit

A tens unit is a great tool to have around especially if you suffer from chronic pain. It is a small machine that has 4 electrodes that attach to the unit. The unit sends small electrical pulse signals to your muscles to help them relax. Plus, it helps temporarily interrupt the pain signals that your muscles are sending to your brain. Most physical therapy offices use a similar unit for roughly 10 minutes. If you are unsure, how long to use it for your chronic pain ask your doctor or physical therapist. Please read the full instructions prior to using the Easy @ Home Electronic TENS Pulse Massager. TENS units are a safe and effective OTC treatment for chronic pain. The unit can be used several times a day as needed.

I love the huge LCD display so that it is easy to read. The TENs unit that I had previously was hard to read because the LCD display wasn’t backed with the blue light. I also love that it has a 1-year money back guarantee too. Select from You can purchase the Easy @ Home Electronic TENS Pulse Massager here.

Zim’s Max Freeze Roll On

Topical Analgesics are great for temporarily relieving pain. You can use it for sore muscles, joints, and painful arthritis. Do make sure that you follow the directions on the bottle or tube before using. I personally like the Zim’s Max Freeze Roll On because you can easily roll the topical analgesic right where you need it without getting it all over your hands.  I love the smell and that it has a vanishing scent. Once you have applied the Max-Freeze, it instantly feels tingly as it goes to work. You can find it on Amazon.

Coloring Books

I asked for some adult coloring books and map pencils last Christmas since I knew that I was having back surgery. The coloring books came in handy and it was a great way to help me cope with my pain. Plus, it was something that I could bed if I am struggling with my chronic pain or having a rough day.

Journaling

It is important to write down your feelings as you go through your chronic pain journey. Getting it out on paper is super helpful and can keep you from worrying.

Heating Pad

I have several heating pads and use them to help me cope with my chronic pain. The heating pad is great for helping me warm up my joints and relieve my pain.Plus, I also use it to help me get warm in the wintertime when nothing else seems to be helping. Do use caution when using heat for prolonged periods of time because it increases your chances of getting burns.

Heated Throw

Last Christmas, I asked for a heated throw. It worked great until my Yorkie decided to use it as a chew toy when I wasn’t looking. I was sad when I found that he chewed a wire in half and had to throw it out. This weekend’s cold temperatures have me already missing my heated throw. Now I have to use several throw blankets to help me stay warm even during the day with the heat running.

Ice Pack

I also am very fond of my ice pack. I use it when I am in a lot of pain or have muscle spasms. Ice also helps reduce swelling and reduces inflammation. It is important to leave the ice pack on sore spots for 20 minutes and to take breaks frequently during the day.

I love listening to music when I am having a hard time coping with my pain levels. When listening to music, I tend to put on some positive tunes and try to take some deep breathes to attempt to relax my muscles. Audiobooks are also a great distraction from the pain too.

Right now I am using wired headphones and they often get tangled up.  I have been eyeing the neckband wireless headphones and skip the wires. Plus, they offer up to 10 hours of continuous play and the earbuds have magnets in them so that they attach to the neck band when they aren’t in your ears. Buy the LG over the neck headphones here!

New Pillows

Has it been a long time since you replaced the pillows on your bed? The pillows on our bed are several years old and are at the end of their life cycle. It had been a long time since we have replaced all of our pillows and I knew that it was time. Plus, flat pillows don’t offer the proper support and can contribute to neck pain or even back pain if your pillow is causing a misaligned spine. Toss your old pillows into the trash and replace them with latex pillows from Brentwood home. They have two different latex pillows to choose from: the Helena Latex filled pillow and the Carmel Latex pillow.

Our all-natural Helena pillow is the favorite amongst our most eco-friendly customers. Filled with a combination of 100% natural latex ribbons and silky-smooth kapok fibers, this pillow is both fluffy and supportive. With resilient latex responding to your movements through the night, the Helena is great for those who sleep in multiple positions. A zippered opening makes it easy to remove or add fill to your desired comfort level, and the 100% organic cotton cover and pesticide-free kapok mean you can sleep safe and sound.

Made with 100% natural latex, the Carmel pillow is ideal for those in need of a firm, supportive foundation through the night. Fixed in a traditional pillow shape, the Carmel offers resilient support with a latex filling that bounces right back. The Carmel never requires fluffing, and healthy materials like 100% organic cotton and natural latex mean you can sleep safe and sound.

Brentwood Home Review and Coupon Code

I am torn which pillow that I like the best because they each have their own distinct characteristics. The Helena Latex pillow responds to your movements and it can change shape as your move. I used this pillow last week to place behind me while I was sitting on the couch. Our couch doesn’t offer the greatest support and I used the pillow to help me keep my spine in proper alignment. The Carmel latex pillow reminds me of our old memory foam mattress. It is soft, yet it conforms to your body for proper support. Since I have been experiencing some neck pain the last several weeks, I think it is the best option for me at the moment. Brentwood Home has offered my readers a special coupon code to save 10%. Grokker is a great yoga subscription based class. Chronic pain patients usually have trouble getting out of the house so this is a perfect solution. It allows them to take a yoga class in the comfort of their own home and they can do it anytime of the day without worrying about being at a class at a certain time. Don’t worry if you can’t do the poses, just do your best to follow the instructor and have fun. Yoga is beneficial for people who have mobility issues or suffer from chronic pain. The basic components of most general yoga classes boil down to:
