My husband and I decided that it was time to get healthy 6 weeks ago. I was a sugar addict and consumed way too many calories on a daily basis. Eating Healthy

Many people often make the mistake of avoiding certain foods when they start making healthy changes. Instead of giving up your favorite guilty pleasure, you should come up with a healthy alternative to take its place. For example, instead of eating ice cream opt for low-fat yogurt. Start with simple changes that will accept your overall health. I am still working on eating plenty of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. I personally don’t have any foods that are off limits; however, I do keep in mind that I have a certain number of calories on a daily basis. I have to make a conscious decision on whether or not I should splurge on a treat.

Take Nature Made Supplements

I decided to give Nature Made B-12 and Burpless Fish Oil (I never took it before for fear of burping fish oil all day long). Eating Breakfast 30 Minutes After Waking

Always eat healthy breakfast each morning. It is best to make sure that you eat breakfast within 3o minutes of waking up. While you are sleeping your body goes into hibernation mode, eating within the first 30 minutes after waking helps wake up your digestion system. I have been doing this the last 6 weeks. I remember growing up, I often would skip breakfast. As an adult, I realized how unhealthy this was and it might be part of why I have struggled with my weight over the years.

Not Eating Late at Night

I always try to make sure that my family is fed before 8 pm. We don’t typically eat this late anyhow but I know that it isn’t good to go to bed with a full belly. Your body automatically slows digestion down while you are sleeping.

Exercise More

 

I am currently exercising at least two days a week. I honestly would love to be able to exercise more but I am currently having problems with my hips. I see the doctor about my hips in a few days and hope that he can give me some answers. Also, I get muscle pain in my back which is normal according to the physical therapist. It tends to hurt when I walk more than a few minutes. For those that don’t know, I had major back surgery in a few days before Christmas 2015. I am pleased with the results from surgery as it helped stabilize my spine. As I heal, I will continue to increase how much I exercise. The doctor told me that it would take up to a year after my back surgery to feel normal.

Get Plenty of Sleep

I try to make sure that I get at least 8 hours of sleep. Often times, I find that I need a bit more sleep than most people because Fibromyalgia is linked to blocking REM sleep. This makes some days harder to get out of bed than others.
