Soccer tryouts are arriving soon for many aspiring soccer players, whether your teenager is trying out professionally or trying out for a high school team it is important to be prepared for tryouts. My son has been preparing all summer long for his upcoming tryouts and I wanted to support him.

Trying out for a soccer team helps represent a change from just playing soccer for fun to actual competitive play. School soccer players are usually more disciplined and mentally focused compared to their other counterparts. Visit A Doctor
Playing sports helps your child become fit and disciplined at the same time. Since soccer is a highly active sport, you may want to get a sports physical at the start of the sports season. Visit your doctor to get a sports physical exam, also known as Pre-participation physical exam. This examination will help determine whether your child is safe to try out or join any sports.
Your doctor will most likely ask for your child’s personal and your family’s medical history. It will help them understand more about your health and if there are patterns of illnesses that you should know about. During the physical exam, the doctor will also record your child’s height and weight, take blood pressure, test your vision, check heart, abdomen, lungs, nose, ears, and throat. They will also evaluate your posture, strength, joints, and flexibility.
During this physical exam, your doctor will help find out about your child’s health. It will also help them deal with problems that might interfere with your child’s participation in any sports. This also a good time for your family doctor to give your child tips and ideas on how they can avoid having injuries while performing sports.
Speak to your school’s soccer coach before soccer tryouts. Many coaches provide conditioning programs or suggestions for drills that can help your teen prepare for tryouts. Encourage your child to practice soccer drills at least three times per week or more if possible, at least 15 to 30 minutes at a time. My son practices soccer drills during any spare time that he has, it helped him master their choice of technique with the ball. Constant practice will also help your teenager to get a better grasp on some of the soccer fundamentals needed for your child’s to succeed in their tryouts.
As a parent, we all play a significant role in keeping our children hydrated when they are playing sports. One of the most important things to understand is what to drink, for example, water vs. sports drinks. One tip to remember is to encourage your child to drink at least two cups of fluid at least two hours before their activity. During soccer games or tryouts, encourage them to drink 4-6 ounces every 15-20 minutes to keep your muscles well-hydrated. Prepare the Right Gear
Prepare your child by getting them the right soccer gear. Get some of the most essential gear, for example, shin guards and soccer cleats. Coaches are always on the lookout for players who can make an impact and get their attention. Teach your child to be coachable and make an eye contact with the coach when interacting with him/her. Encourage them never to shy away from taking chances for them shine especially during soccer tryouts.
Soccer is one way for your child to shine. Ultimately, I believe it is a good way for them to develop discipline, make friends, enjoy teamwork, and have lots of fun in the process. Tryouts can be somewhat overwhelming, especially, if your teenager hasn’t had to try out in order to play soccer or another sport.
