Stress is a common problem that most people face on a daily basis, and it leads to unhealthy eating habits, which creates stubborn belly fat. In fact, many medical experts relate stress with various health problems including those that are fatal.

The Role Of Cortisol

There are a lot of things that contributes to belly fat, and the most common that we encounter every single day whether at work or home is stress. When we are under stress, our body starts to produce a hormone known as Cortisol. This type of hormone has two different effects on our body, first is that it slows our metabolism down, and the 2nd one is that it stimulates our urge of eating saltier, sweeter and fattier foods. Stress encourages us to crave for these type of food because they tell the brain to release pleasure chemicals and reduce stress.

When our bodies experience stress, it instructs the brain to release different hormones which help “manage’ the stress. Adrenaline and cortisol hormones are released in quantities to encourage the body to release more energy even when you are not depleted of these yet.

Cortisol also lets your body store fat along the way—especially belly fat, which is particularly dangerous because it surrounds vital organs like the livers and kidneys. Finally, it also releases fatty acids into your blood. Fatty acids cause cholesterol and insulin levels to spike in your body which paves the way for various diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and heart problems.

Over time as you continue to let your body go through plenty of stress, there is a good chance that you will gain weight especially belly fat.

How to Speed Your Metabolism

For you to speed your metabolism up and start reducing belly fat, you would have to stay away from stress as much as you can. Try to do some things that you enjoy such as going on a fishing trip, playing basketball, watching movies, camping, watching movies and so on. Ultimately, if you enjoy what you are doing, then there is a big chance that your metabolism rate would be increased giving you an opportunity to lose weight.

Having fun and relaxing allows your body to release endorphins naturally. Endorphins are a type of neurotransmitters that stimulates your senses to make you feel better. They act as a messenger that tells your brain that you are happy.

It is important to be able to be in a physical state where you are releasing these feel good endorphins into our system. They are helpful when it comes to losing belly fat. Restricting yourself from doing fun activities and doing stressful things will not help you at all. So it would be useful if you would know how to balance stress and fun.
