The peak of the flu season usually occurs from November through March. Health care providers generally recommend that you get your flu shot as soon as it is available. Without regular exercise, you are more likely to get colds, especially if you are exposed to someone who has a cold or the flu.  Exercise can also help boost your body’s feel-good chemicals and will help you to sleep better at night.

Improve Your Diet

Eating or drinking too much sugar will affect your immune system and allow the bacteria to attack your body. You should avoid food that has a high amount of sugar and chooses food such as fruits and vegetables. Make sure you eat foods that have high in vitamin C and E, rich in nutrients, beta-carotene, and zinc. Go for a wide variety of brightly colored fruits and vegetables, such as citrus, berries, kiwi, apples, spinach, kale, carrots, pineapple, and more.

Catch Some Sun Rays

Sunlight can trigger the skin’s production of vitamin D. During the summer, a 10 – 15-minute sun exposure is enough. However, during fall or winter, the sunlight may be too feeble, so make sure to take the time to enjoy the outdoors more. Low amount of Vitamin D is proven to increase your risk of developing a respiratory infection.

Boosting your immunity is the best way to make your body strong against various diseases. The tips mentioned above are some of the best ways to keep your body healthy. Even though flu season is almost over this year, you can still implement these tips to help boost your immune system to ward off other viruses and infections.

  6. I’m super paranoid about getting sick right now as I’m about to have a baby. I’m glad I had the flu shot back in November. My oldest teen had the flu about a month ago and it hit her hard. Thankfully, I caught it in enough time to get her the antiviral meds to make it go quickly.
