The Dukan Diet was developed by Pierre Dukan, a French doctor who wants to make a difference for obese people. The Dukan Diet is 4 phases, low calorie, and high protein plan that promises to give you a stable weight loss. No weighing of food or measuring the number calories for the food that you consume. You can eat as much as you want and you can eat at any time of the day. But you are only allowed to consume lean protein during the start of the program.

The program also includes a 20-minute walk daily which helps in burning off the food that you consume. Vegetables are also allowed during the second phase of the diet, it is also followed by fruits and whole grains. Many people also recognize the similarities that this diet has with Atkins Diet. People who use the Dukan diet can expect to lose weight quickly, about 1 to 2 pounds on a daily basis during the first phase. Though you can easily lose weight with the Dukan Diet, you also have to worry about having to suffer some side effects including constipation, dry mouth, bad breath, and fatigue.

Phase 1 of Dukan Diet

Phase 1 of the Dukan Diet is known as the “Attack” phase. With the first phase, you can enjoy an eat all you can lean protein. You can also incorporate 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran and at least 1.5 liters of water every day. You have an option of choosing between 72 lean or low-fat meat. Some of the lean meat that you can include during the first phase includes eggs, poultry, fish, and nonfat dairy. Pork and lamb are not allowed during the first phase of the diet though.

Phase 2 of Dukan Diet

The second phase is also known as the “cruise” phase. This phase allows an unlimited amount of non-starchy vegetables to be incorporated into your diet every other day along with the unlimited number of lean meat and 2 tablespoons of oat bran. Starchy vegetables like corn, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, are not included in the allowed vegetables.

Phase 3 of Dukan Diet

Phase 3 or the “consolidation” phase allows unlimited protein, you can already incorporate lamb and pork into your diet. You can also enjoy vegetables every day along with a piece of low sugar fruit, 2 pieces of whole grain bread, and a portion of cheese every day. Dieters can also get a serving of starchy foods like carrots or potatoes. You can also enjoy 1-2 celebration meals where you can enjoy whatever you want to eat every week during this phase. It is also during this phase that you will be able to commit to a lifetime of using a core diet of pure protein at least one day each week.

Phase 4 of Dukan Diet

The last phase is the stabilization phase where you make meals for having a maintenance of the Dukan diet plan. You can eat whatever you want and whenever during the last phase as long as you keep one day to a pure lean meat diet.
