A tens unit is a great tool to have around especially if you suffer from chronic pain. It is a small machine that has 4 electrodes that attach to the unit. Zim’s Max-Freeze Roll On
Topical Analgesics are great for temporarily relieving pain. You can use it for sore muscles, joints, and painful arthritis. Do make sure that you follow the directions on the bottle or tube before using. I personally like the Zim’s Max-Freeze Roll On because you can easily roll the topical analgesic right where you need it without getting it all over your hands. I love the smell and that it has a vanishing scent. Once you have applied the Max-Freeze, it instantly feels tingly as it goes to work. You can find it on Amazon.
I asked for some adult coloring books and map pencils last Christmas since I knew that I was having back surgery. The coloring books came in handy and it was a great way to help me cope with my pain. Plus, it was something that I could bed if I am struggling with my chronic pain or having a rough day.
It is important to write down your feelings as you go through your chronic pain journey. Getting it out on paper is super helpful and can keep you from worrying.
I have several heating pads and use them to help me cope with my chronic pain. The heating pad is great for helping me warm up my joints and relieve my pain. Plus, I also use it to help me get warm in the wintertime when nothing else seems to be helping. Do use caution when using heat for prolonged periods of time because it increases your chances of getting burnt.
Last Christmas, I asked for a heated throw. It worked great until my Yorkie decided to use it as a chew toy when I wasn’t looking. I was sad when I found that he chewed a wire in half and had to throw it out. This weekend’s cold temperatures have me already missing my heated throw. Now I have to use several throw blankets to help me stay warm even during the day with the heat running.
I also am very fond of my ice pack. I use it when I am in a lot of pain or have muscle spasms. Ice also helps reduce swelling and reduces inflammation. It is important to leave the ice pack on sore spots for 20 minutes and to take breaks frequently during the day.
I love listening to music when I am having a hard time coping with my pain levels. When listening to music, I tend to put on some positive tunes and try to take some deep breathes to attempt to relax my muscles. Audiobooks are also a great distraction from the pain too.
Right now I am using wired headphones and they often get tangled up. I have been eyeing the neckband wireless headphones and skip the wires. Plus, they offer up to 10 hours of continuous play and the earbuds have magnets in them so that they attach to the neckband when they aren’t in your ears.
Has it been a long time since you replaced the pillows on your bed? The pillows on our bed are several years old and are at the end of their life cycle. It had been a long time since we have replaced all of our pillows and I knew that it was time. Plus, flat pillows don’t offer the proper support and can contribute to neck pain or even back pain if your pillow is causing a misaligned spine. Toss your old pillows into the trash.
