Soccer is an fun and intense workout. There are both leagues for both outdoor and indoor soccer. Outdoor soccer is a bit different than indoor soccer but they are both equally fun. Outdoor soccer is played on a larger field and has 11 players on the field. If you are trying to put together a team, you will want to make sure that you carry a full roster so that you always have substitutes available on the bench.
Indoor soccer is played on a smaller field and only 7 players on the field. It is a fast paced game but it is a ton of fun. You can utilize your team mates or even bounce the ball off the wall in order to get around an opponent. The rules are similar to hockey, you can’t cross the ball over all three lines. If you do, your opponent get the ball on the line closest to the goal that they are trying to score on.
Soccer is a great sport and you should consider finding a team. Even if you are out of shape, you can start slowly exercising so that you are ready to play next time there are sign ups.
Kickball is no longer a sport that you expect to find on the elementary playground. The rules are very similar to a game of softball. Teams usually carry a roster of 15 people so that everyone has plenty of opportunities to get plenty of playing time. The person who rolls the ball stands in the same spot as a pitcher, he or she will roll the ball and the person at home plate has to kick the ball as hard as possible. The object of the game is to kick the ball without someone catching it or tossing it to a plate before you get there.
Softball is a another great team sport to give a try. Plus, it is a great full body workout. You can choose from either slow or fast pitch softball. If you haven’t played before, most beginners find that slow pitch softball is easier to play. Remember to choose a position that gets a lot of action if you want to take advantage of a great workout. Of course, you will get plenty of chances to run the bases too.

Are you looking for a great team sport with a ton of action? Volleyball is a fun sport that is full of non-stop action. The great thing about this sport unless your playing sand volleyball, all of the games are played indoors so you don’t have to worry about battling the elements. Each team has 6 players on the court and you rotate around the court so that everyone gets a chance to play each position. The object of the game is to ground the ball on the other team’s side of the court. Each game consists of 3 sets. There are a ton of different rules, so before playing your first game brush up on your leagues specific rules. Each team is allowed to hit the ball a total of three times before it has to go back over the net. However, one person can’t touch the ball twice in a row. The first one or two touches on the ball is to help set it an attack before sending it back over the net.
Do you enjoy playing football with your friends? Why not join a league so that you can play flag football on a regular schedule. Depending on where you are located, there are a few sports facilities that even off indoor flag football too. Flag football has similar rules as a regular game of football; however, there is no contact involved. The goal of the game is to remove the flag from the ball carrier. Once the flag is removed, the person is considered down and the ball is reset where the player was touched. There are a few variations in the number of players allowed on the field, whether or not there is punting allowed, field size, and point conversions. So check with your specific league to determine the exact rules for playing.

Basketball is another action packed, fast-paced sport. There are usually 5 players on the court per team. The goal of the game is to score as many baskets into the opponents net before the end of the game. Most of the time, basketball games are high scoring games as the teams travel up and down the court fairly quickly. This game does require a few skills ranging from: dribbling, shooting, passing, guarding, blocking, and rebounding the ball. Plus, you have to be able to do all of those things while moving and without traveling (walking while holding the ball in your hand).
I love team sports when it comes to exercising. I found that playing on a team was a great way to hold myself accountable and it always motivated me to show up to play (even if I didn’t play that well). Your teammates are relying on you to show up so that there are enough players to play the game. You also are relying on your teammates to show up too. It’s a win win situation for everyone. The great news even couples can play these sports together. Most leagues offer co-ed teams too! So try one or more of these team sports that adults can play and enjoy.
When playing in a sport, make sure that you follow the rules so that you limit any sports-related injuries. Injuries aren’t always inevitable but you can do your best to try and prevent them.
