Carbohydrates are an essential macromolecule that is needed by the body for the production of energy in the form of glucose. Most low carb diet is based on a diet made for Diabetic patients who have difficulties in controlling the amount of blood glucose due to their carbohydrate intake.

People with diabetes have problems with the production of insulin, a hormone that transports glucose from the blood stream to the body for energy. On the other hand, a carbohydrate is broken down to produce glucose which is absorbed into the bloodstream. Because of this, blood glucose level will increase into the blood stream which leads to malfunctions of the other organs of the body.

However, there are plenty of health experts who do not recommend this type of diet. That is because you may be placing yourself in danger when you are not consuming the right food groups that your body needs. After all, carbohydrates are the body’s primary source of energy. This is why I took the time to research different ways to take on a low carb diet safely and efficiently.

Time Your Intake of Carbohydrates Wisely

The main reason why should be eating limiting your carbohydrates is to help control your blood sugar and keep your blood sugar stabilized. However, carbohydrates are needed by the body for energy production. Timing when you will be consuming carbohydrates will help control your blood sugar.  It will also prevent your body unnecessary storing it as fat. The best time to consume carbs is right before, during, or after you exercise. It is highly recommended to take carbs during exercise like intense, involves weight training, exercises that are longer than 2 hours.

According to experts, there is a certain truth to the phrase, “fat burns in the flame of carbohydrates”. Carbs are essential in your body’s ability to burn fat when you have low glucose; your body will automatically shut down its fat burning abilities. It is most recommended to consume at least 500 – 600 calories of carbohydrates every day if you are planning to lose weight safely.

Consider the Number of Fats In Your Body

If you are fat, for example, if you have significant belly fat – you will benefit a lot from a low carb diet. However, if you have low body fat, then it is likely that a low carb diet will not work for you. This is even true if you have low body fat and exercise consistently. Remember, you need extra fat, about 6% of your body weight for various reasons including insulation.

Choose Healthy Carbs

Go for healthy carbs instead. Load up on vegetables and fruits that have friendly carbs. Avoid processed food because they are usually packed with unwanted carbohydrates. Some of the best food with friendly carbs include Zucchini, Cauliflower, Swiss Chard, Mushrooms, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes and so much more.
