What is an Ironman Triathlon? {Infographic}

Have you ever competed in the Ironman Triathlon? If not, this is a huge event that was created by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The race consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run. Each racer has to complete this series of events in order and they don’t get to take a break between each event. It is considered one of the toughest days in the sporting communities.

The Ironman Triathlon usually has very strict times so that the race is completed within 17 hours. There are even cut off times for each event. The swim cut off time is around 2 hours twenty minutes, the bike ride cut off time is around 8 hours and 10 minutes, and the cut off time for the run is around 6 hours and 30 minutes. The participant who is actually able to complete all three events becomes an Ironman. Check out the info graphic for more details about the Ironman Triathlon!
